The Atmos Réédition 1930 is a spirited homage to Jean-Léon Reutter and to the era which gave birth to his fabulous mechanism. While the design remains true to the original, the clock makers and designers at the Manufacture took care to imbue the movement, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 560 with a character of its own as befits such a technically advanced piece. In 1928, the engineer Jean-Léon Reutter defied the laws of physics by designing a movement that could function for several centuries without wear and tear or the need for external intervention. Intrigued by this revolutionary invention, Jaeger-LeCoultre offered him the use of the expertise at the Manufacture in order to perfect his mechanism and develop it further. And thus the Atmos clock was born. Housed under a glass dome, the beautifully refined bronze dial makes no secret of its Art Deco inspiration, with numbers in a calligraphy reminiscent of the 30s and bronze hands culminating in a black tip. At the centre of the dial, a large opening draws the attention towards the movement-entirely hand-decorated in the finest Haute Horlogerie tradition. The purity and lightness emanating from this commemorative piece are further highlighted by a steel base so slender it is practically invisible, creating an impression of time in perpetual suspension.
